Live bees available for 2027
Five-frame nucs — $275
A nuc is a small established colony containing five deep frames, a laying queen, adult workers, brood in multiple stages, and honey and pollen stores. Our nucs are produced from established Texas colonies and receive a new queen before pickup.
Queen bees — $65
Seasonal Carniolan/Italian queens are available for requeening existing colonies, replacing a lost queen, and creating splits.
Where can I buy bees near Fort Worth?
Ten Box Bees is located at 1010 Tejas Trail in Burleson, just south of Fort Worth. Our location serves beekeepers from Fort Worth, Burleson, Mansfield, Crowley, Cleburne, Joshua, Alvarado, Grandview, Weatherford, Aledo, Granbury and surrounding North Texas communities.
Nuc or queen: which should I buy?
If you have an empty hive and need a complete starter colony, choose a nuc. If you already have a colony or prepared split with worker bees and brood resources and only need a new queen, choose a queen.
Why local pickup matters
Buying locally lets you pick up a functioning colony and move it directly to your apiary without mailing a nuc through a carrier. Nucs are pickup only at Ten Box Bees; we do not ship nuc colonies.
Before you pick up live bees
- Choose and prepare your apiary location.
- Have hive equipment assembled before pickup day.
- Plan secure, shaded and ventilated transportation.
- Bring protective equipment if you expect to handle bees after arriving home.
- Review your installation plan before pickup.
Buying bees for agricultural valuation
Buying bees means you own and manage the colonies yourself. If your primary goal is maintaining qualifying beekeeping activity for a Texas agricultural valuation and you do not want to become the beekeeper, Ten Box Bees also offers fully managed hive leasing.
