Managed Honey Bee Leasing for Texas Agricultural Valuation
Ten Box Bees provides fully managed honey bee hive leasing for Texas landowners using beekeeping as a qualifying agricultural activity for 1-d-1 open-space agricultural appraisal. We deliver the colonies, place the hives, manage them throughout the year, and provide service documentation for your records.
Annual lease rate: $385 per hive. A one-time setup fee applies to new properties.
What is included
- Honey bee colonies and hive equipment placed on your property
- Installation and apiary setup
- Routine inspections and colony management
- Feeding, treatment, queen management, and replacement when needed as part of normal service
- Photo or service updates and documentation for your records
- Five bottles of honey per year for the property owner
How many hives do I need?
Hive-count and acreage standards vary by county appraisal district and property history. A commonly used North Texas intensity guideline is six hives for the first five qualifying acres, with additional hives as acreage increases. Ten Box Bees reviews your property and local appraisal-district requirements before recommending a setup.

Our leasing program is designed for landowners who want the agricultural-use benefits of managed beekeeping without purchasing equipment, maintaining colonies, or becoming a beekeeper themselves. We serve Fort Worth and surrounding North Texas counties.
