North Texas Bee Ag Exemption Service Areas

Ten Box Bees is a Burleson-based commercial beekeeping operation providing fully managed honey bee leasing for landowners using beekeeping as an agricultural activity. We currently service eight North Texas counties on regular routes.

Choose your county

Each County Appraisal District can apply a different degree-of-intensity standard. Use the county guide below to see the local hive schedule, common service communities, and the county-specific hive calculator in our new site design.

Johnson County

Burleson, Cleburne, Joshua, Alvarado, Godley, Grandview, Rio Vista, Venus and surrounding rural properties. Johnson uses a tiered hive schedule rather than the common 6-to-12 progression.

Tarrant County

Fort Worth, Mansfield, Crowley, Kennedale and qualifying rural tracts throughout Tarrant County. Tarrant uses a six-colony minimum for qualifying beekeeping acreage; we confirm the current standard with TAD before placement.

Parker County

Weatherford, Aledo, Willow Park, Hudson Oaks, Springtown, Millsap, Peaster, Brock and nearby acreage. Parker commonly uses 6 hives on the first 5 acres plus 1 per additional 2.5 acres.

Hood County

Granbury, Tolar, Lipan, Cresson and surrounding Hood County. Hood CAD publishes a 6-to-12-hive table for 5 to 20 acres.

Hill County

Hillsboro, Itasca, Covington, Whitney, Blum and nearby rural tracts. Hill County is more intensive than many neighboring counties, reaching 16 hives at 20 acres.

Somervell County

Glen Rose, Rainbow, Nemo and surrounding Somervell County. Somervell uses its own 4-to-12-hive schedule.

Wise County

Decatur, Boyd, Rhome, Bridgeport, Paradise and nearby acreage. Wise CAD publishes 6 hives on the first 5 acres plus 1 hive for each additional 2.5 acres.

Montague County

Bowie, Nocona, Saint Jo, Montague and surrounding rural properties. Montague CAD publishes a 6-to-12-hive progression and county beekeeping documentation requirements.
