2027 Honey Bee Nucs for Sale in Fort Worth & North Texas
Reserve a 2027 five-frame nucleus colony from Ten Box Bees — $250 pre-sale through November 1 (reg. $275). Our nucs are produced from established Texas honey bee colonies, receive a new queen, and are given time to establish before pickup at our honey farm in Burleson, Texas.
Local pickup only — we do not ship nucs. Pickup is expected in early May 2027, with final timing dependent on spring weather and colony development.
What is included in each 5-frame nuc?
- Five deep frames on drawn comb
- A laying queen
- Adult worker bees
- Brood in multiple stages
- Honey and pollen stores
Why buy a nuc instead of package bees?
A nuc is already functioning as a small colony. The queen is laying, brood is developing, workers are established on drawn comb, and food stores are already present. Package bees are loose bees installed into an empty hive and must establish from scratch. For many North Texas beekeepers, a nuc provides a faster and simpler spring start.
Who are these nucs for?
Our 2027 nucs are a good fit for first-time beekeepers, experienced beekeepers replacing winter losses, customers expanding an apiary, and landowners who want to own and personally manage their colonies.
Fort Worth-area pickup
Pickup is at Ten Box Bees Honey Farm, 1010 Tejas Trail, Burleson, TX 76028, convenient to Fort Worth, Mansfield, Cleburne, Crowley, Joshua, Alvarado, Weatherford, Granbury and other North Texas communities. Pre-order customers receive pickup instructions and the final pickup window by email.
How to transport your nuc
- Arrive with room for the nuc to sit flat and secure.
- Keep the nuc shaded and ventilated during transport.
- Do not leave live bees in a parked vehicle.
- Have your permanent hive stand, bottom board, boxes and protective gear ready before pickup day.
Nuc bees vs. queen bees
If you are starting a new hive, a nuc is usually the complete starting colony you need. If you already have a colony or are making a split and only need a replacement queen, see our queen bees for sale.
Buying bees for an agricultural valuation property?

Can I reserve with a deposit instead of paying in full?
Yes. Choose the “$100 Deposit (Non-Refundable)” payment option at checkout. The $100 deposit per nuc is non-refundable and locks in the $250 pre-sale price. The remaining $150 per nuc is due March 1, 2027 — we will email you an invoice.
When is pickup?
Early May 2027 is expected. Weather and colony development determine the final date.
Do you ship nucs?
No. Nucs are local pickup only in Burleson, Texas.
Are the bees from Texas?
Our nucs are produced from established Texas honey bee colonies and receive a new queen before pickup.
Can a beginner buy a nuc?
Yes. A nuc is one of the most practical ways to start a new colony because it already contains a laying queen, brood, workers and food stores.
Do I need equipment before pickup?
Yes. Have your hive equipment and permanent apiary location ready before bringing the bees home.
